Summary
As a Process Engineer, you are responsible for the process design, commissioning, and finetuning of parts of our Waste-to-Energy plants. Throughout the project, you will work closely with colleagues within the process engineering team and other engineers.
Your future colleagues across departments, including the engineering department, proposal and bid management department, site-based project management and many more, will depend on your expertise in process design to attain the operational excellence they strive for.

About this position
As a direct report to the Manager Process Engineering, this position plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful design and commissioning of our Waste-to-Energy installations. Your expertise will be essential in achieving the operational excellence we strive for.
A detailed overview of the job
This is what you will do

Design and Commissioning: Responsible for the design and commissioning of the main parts of our Waste-to-Energy installations such as ID fans, auxiliary fuel burners, primary and secondary air fans, boiler feedwater pumps, safety valves, feedwater tank, air preheaters/heat exchangers, etc.

Process Guarantees and Specifications: Evaluate the required contractual process guarantees and specifications during the proposal stage. Advise colleagues from the business development and proposal management teams on this subject.

Drafting PFDs and P&IDs: Draft PFDs, P&IDs, and dimensional calculations for the assigned parts of the Waste-to-Energy installation. Design the whole plant aligned with the contractual and legal demands.

Detailed Process Design: Provide project engineers with all necessary information for ordering and purchasing packages and devices together with the procurement team. Your design will also serve as an important source of information for other engineering teams such as piping, mechanical, instrumentation, and automation.

Process Control System: Work closely with the automation team to design the process control system (functional descriptions, control logic, etc.).

Technical Risk Assessments: Execute technical risk assessments and adapt the process design when necessary.

Commissioning and Start-Up: Travel to our international projects to assist in the commissioning, start-up, and training of operators. Draft all necessary process performance test procedures in preparation for plant visits.

Follow-Up: Analyze data and ensure the follow-up of operating Waste-to-Energy plants together with our Plant Follow-Up team.
Skills and abilities
Must Haves
-
In order to draft detailed process designs, you work accurately and are detail-oriented.

Several years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment with knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, process controls, chemical processing, etc.

Experience in the EPC market, particularly in process engineering roles.

Teamwork is key in our company. Therefore, you are a good communicator and team player with specialists in other engineering teams.

Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to process engineering.

Willingness to travel occasionally to our international projects for commissioning and start-up activities.
Nice to haves

Interested in or has a first experience in instrumentation, automation, and mechanical design of process plants & installations.

Experience with simulation software and process modeling tools.

Knowledge of sustainability practices and environmental regulations.
Education and Experience

Obtained a master’s degree in chemical, bio-engineering, or related fields of study.

Several years of experience in engineering and/or project management in machinery, heavy industries, process equipment, etc.
Languages:
For this role, we are looking for a fluent English & French speaker to strengthen our team.
